On 1st October
2006 The Fire
Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997 as amended 1999 is to
be replaced with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, and
affects all non-domestic premises.
A brief extract:
A Fire Risk Assessment must be
carried out on all non-domestic premises and recorded for
premises with 5 or more employees by a competent person. The
ultimate responsibility (under the Order) for the safety of
employees and the public from fire in the workplace rests with.

contractor with a degree of control over any premises.
Fire Exit signs, fire alarms and
fire fighting equipment must be provided with pictograph signs -
Health & Safety (Safety Signs & Signals) Regulations 1996.
Small Businesses - Employers
must assess the risk from fire at the workplace and take
necessary precautions.
